A Thematic Exploration of the Qur’an lecture series will be held at Vanderbilt University. These lectures will focus on grammar, rhetoric and conceptual aspects of different topics and passages in the Qur’an. The lectures will be a ground for students of Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and other related fields to explore several interpretive tools that are based on linguistic, semantic and rhetorical aspects. With specific topics such as homosexuality in the Qur’an, the focus will be on how the biblical sources and texts can serve as an important tool to understand Qur’anic message. In addition, the lectures will provide students with different traditional and western scholarly references on each topic.
