The International Qur’anic Studies Association Monograph Series
As well as its Journal (JIQSA) and the online Review of Qur’anic Research, the association also has a publishing program devoted to books concerned with the study of the Qurʾan: IQSA Studies in the Qurʾan (ISIQ). In this connection, the Editorial Committee seeks proposals and suggestions for works to be included in the series. It is envisaged that such works will fall into the following main categories:
- New scholarly monographs devoted to aspects of Qur’anic Studies. Proposals for the publication of works that reflect the ethos of the Association – the analysis of the Qurʾan as a text of Late Antiquity – will be especially welcome, although the Editorial Committee does not seek to be prescriptive and is willing to consider proposals reflecting diverse approaches to the study of the text. We would especially welcome proposals from graduate students, or their supervisors, who have recently completed or are close to completing a relevant doctoral thesis. Some guidance would be offered on what is needed to transform a PhD thesis into a book suitable for publication for a wider readership.
2. The republication of classic works no longer in copyright, and the translation of important works not already available in English. IQSA does not have in house translators, so proposals for the latter should also suggest a willing and competent translator – competence obviously includes not only command of English and the original language, but also familiarity with the technical aspects of Qur’anic Studies.
3. A sub-series that will include, e.g., new or translated aids to the study of the Qurʾan (e.g., studies of its vocabulary or innovative concordances), the proceedings of the bi-annual IQSA international conferences, and edited volumes of essays.
